GSA Archives & Collections

gsa archives 10We are pleased to say that The Glasgow School of Art Archives & Collections have now settled into their new home at The Whisky Bond and are officially open to the public. The GSA Archives include thousands of records and artefacts which relate to the school’s activities since it’s foundation in 1845.

GSA Archives 3

The archives comprise of GSA’s institutional records and an impressive collection of examples of art, design and architectural work by GSA alumni and former staff, including a large number of items by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Gsa-archives-and-collections-whisky-bond-5One of school’s archivists Jocelyn Grant kindly showed us around the new space on the 4th floor of TWB and we got to take a look at some of the wonderful collection including a number of beautiful hand-drawn paisley patterns, books, poster and flyer designs for some of the events held at GSA, charming old photo albums of students in the Mackintosh building, ceramics, student artworks and old ledgers from the early 1900s where students were registered for the year’s school tuition.
