Radial Labs

TWB Radial Labs

Can you tell us about Radial Labs?

Radial Labs operate in many innovative areas, including ODM design, manufacture and supply of network transmission products, disruptive household consumer products and high impact Smart City street furniture. Simply put, we thrive on working with ideas, solving challenges, adding value and ensuring the right problems are being solved.

Where has Radial Labs come from?

Radial Electronics Limited has an 8 year track record in design and engineering of industry leading network technologies. Since Radial’s incorporation in 2008, it has successfully launched products and transformed into a company with a turnover of several million pounds.

Used primarily in networked video surveillance applications, Radial Electronics’ core products extend the network range of cable from double to several times its parameters. IP cameras, access points, lighting and other network devices can now be located exactly where they are needed with no need to install additional electric cables.

The success of Radial Electronics led its owner, Iain Crouch, to create Radial Labs, a place where the very best engineering talent and product concepts could be supported, through development and ultimately on to market.

So Radial Labs acts as a mini incubator for product designers? Can you tell us a little more about that?

Our unique model endeavours to remove many of the obstacles that are most common in taking an early stage idea and converting it into a marketable product. Every project is different, however we can offer paid employment, physical space, overhead contribution, investment or a mix of any or all of these.

We realise that not all ideas will be much beyond the conceptual stage. Our team includes the very best Product Design, Electronic and Mechanical engineers who can work from the earliest stage to visualise and add value to products. Furthermore, we have the technologies to hand to carry out significant design and modelling of ideas.

What’s the benefit to you being based in TWB?

While Radial Electronics Ltd is HQ’d in Bridge of Weir, The Whisky Bond was chosen as an additional site where we could tap into the creative resources available in the building. Just over 12 months ago we moved into a 350sqft studio, but already we have grown into a 1600sqft studio where we bring together our electronics lab, wood / metal workshop, meeting space and office for the engineers and management team located here.

What’s coming up for Radial Labs?

We thrive on the diversity of the projects we are involved in. Soon to be launched products include many new additions to Radial Electronics network transmission range, the most secure and Smart City ready bike lock on the market from urbanminded, and the world’s fastest toaster from Parian. You really don’t get much more diverse than that! It makes every day full of new challenges and opportunities that make The Whisky Bond a great place to be, and Radial a great place to work.
